Community Connections and Your Role as a Travel Trainer
Travel trainers are in a unique position to make connections within their communities to increase the potential for independent mobility. This course starts with an overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act and public transportation and how this important piece of federal legislation connects with travel training, followed by information about building a good working relationship with local transportation providers. The remaining two modules explore connections across similar professions such as mobility management and ADA complementary paratransit eligibility programs.
While this is an online course, there is an opportunity to share experiences, ideas and knowledge with colleagues. The course contains readings, activities, and online and teleconference interaction. The format is flexible enough to allow busy professionals to log in and work at any hour of the day or night. Learners will be expected to participate in approximately 12 concentrated hours on activities over the span of the course.
